Our Seafood Calzone Roll is What Italian Dreams Are Made Of

The great thing about calzones is that you can fill it with so many wonderful ingredients. This version uses seafood like shrimps and anchovies to bring texture in every cheesy bite. Try baking it also with chicken chunks or prosciutto.


Makes 4-5 servings


1 Pizza dough, cut into individual-sized portions
2 cups Marinara sauce
2 cups Mozzarella
6-8 Fresh prawns or shrimps, peeled, deveined, and chopped into chunks
3 cloves Garlic
3 cloves Fried garlic
1 small can Anchovies
1 Tbsp Gorgonzola cheese

  1. Roll the dough to a flat oval pizza.
  2.  Ladle in a serving of marinara in the middle and spread going out the dough. Sprinkle grated mozzarella over the suce.
  3. Distribute shrimp slices over the dough. add fresh garlic, fried garlic, and small bits of anchovies around the shrimps.
  4. Roll one side of the dough to the middle. Repeat on the other side.
  5. Touch both ends together forming a triangle. Fold over and transfer to a pizza pan or a cookie sheet.
  6. Cook the calzone in a preheated 382°F oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until the crust is crisp and golden. Let it rest a bit before serving.


1 cup Water
1 sachet Dry yeast
1 tsp Sugar
2 tsps Salt
¼ cup Extra virgin olive oil
¼ cup Milk
3 cups 00 flour

  1. Dissolve the yeast in lukewarm water.
  2. Add sugar, salt, olive oil, and milk to the water-yeast mixture. Whisk until dissolved.
  3. Place mixture into a mixer bowl. Using a dough hook, mix until well incorporated.
  4. Add two more cups of flour and mix until dough is formed.
  5. Take dough out of the mixer and knead until smooth for 8-10 minutes. Let dough sit for half an hour.
  6. Divide the dough into portions or any weight or size preferred.
  7. Shape the dough by cupping it with your hands. Let rest for another hour.
