Looking for a new dish to serve on your potluck parties? Whether you prepare it as a pika-pika (appetizers) or as an entrèe, this crispy golden pork-shrimp wontons will surely be a hit. You can pair it with other side dips as well like honey calamansi or spiced vinegar.

Makes 5-6 servings

¼ kilo Ground pork

¼ kilo Fresh shrimps, shelled and minced

6 cloves Garlic, minced

1 Onion, minced

½ cup Minced carrots

½ cup Minced singkamas

2 Tbsps Soy sauce

1 tsp Sugar

Salt and black pepper, to season

1 Egg

3 Tbsps Cornstarch

Wonton wrappers, for wrapping

Cooking oil, for frying

  1. In a bowl, combine ground pork, minced shrimp, garlic, onions, carrots, and singkamas. Season with soy sauce, sugar, salt, and pepper. Mix in egg and cornstarch. Mix well until mixture is pasty.
  2. Place a small amount (about a teaspoon) of the mixture on the wanton wrapper. Moisten edges of the wrapper with water then fold to seal all sides, forming a triangle. Repeat until filling is consumed.
  3. In a large frying pan or wok, heat cooking oil. Drop wonton in batches and fry until golden brown. Transfer fried wontons to a paper-lined plate or colander to remove excess oil. Serve hot, with sweet and sour sauce on the side.
