Somerdale Cheeses Will Be Your Next Cheese Obsession

When you think of cheese, what country do you usually associate it with? Often times we think of France or Italy, but did you know that some of the best cheeses in the world came from the Great Britain? It’s not all fish and chips or bangers and mash with the British, you know.

And as far as British cheeses go, Somerdale  is your best bet. Based in the town of Somerset in Wellington, Southwest of England, this countryside company offers more than 250 different products nationwide, and that’s include the Philippines which started in the beginning of this year. Curious about their cheese line? Here are some of their offerings, which we know, you’d want to get your hands on this holiday season:

WESTMINSTER CHEDDAR
Did you know that cheddar actually originated from England? This mild variation is among the very finest made by some of the most respected Cheddar-making families in the world. It has an amazing balance of sweet and savory with its use of special blend of cultures.

HARLECH
A creamy English cheddar with horseradish and parsley, that consists of only natural produced cheeses containing no artificial flavors or preservatives. Available in deli wheels that are sealed in colored wax to retain flavor.

BARBER’S 1833
Made by the oldest cheese-making family in the world, this special cheese has become the signature product of the village of Cheddar. The flavor profile of this variant boasts of a well distinct bite and a smooth finish resulting from its 2 year vintage reserve.

SOMERDALE CHEDDAR WITH CHILI AND LIME
This incredible cheddar is made flavorful with its combination of chili and lime to create a deliciously unique cheese. A jump from the traditional cheddar flavors, this unique-tasting variant is sure to become a modern classic.

CHEDDAR WITH CRACKED BLACK PEPPER
This creamy and smooth Somerdale cheddar is complimented with the bite of a hot-cracked black pepper. It’s best recommended to melt it on top of a freshly-grilled burger.

RED LEICESTER
This variant is originally made from the milk leftover from Stilton cheese making after quotas had been filled. The Red Leicester has a firm body with a slightly open and crumbly texture. It’s profiled to be rich and buttery, with a full smooth flavor.

POACHER’S CHEDDAR
This variant is made with a combination of creamy smooth cheddar and sweet caramelized onions. The cheddar balances out the acid of the onions in the cheese leaving it velvety smooth. It can be used for melting, grated with salads, and eaten on its own.

DOUBLE GLOUCESTER
A semi-hard deep-bodied colored cheese made from whole milk. Savory and smooth, the Double Gloucester cheese has been made since the 16th century and originally with milk from the Gloucester cow, which is now a protected species.

WENSLEYDALE WITH BLUEBERRIES
The taste profile for this unique cheese is it’s light and creamy notes with a hint of sharpness. Sweet blueberries perfectly complement the Wensleydale cheese. Flavors are locked in by coating the wheels in generous wax seal, deep blue in color, enhancing the appearance.

WENSLEYDALE WITH CRANBERRIES
Wensleydale cheese has a natural sweet acidity that complements fruits such as cranberries. Flavors are locked in by sealing it with a distinct burgundy wax.

BLUE STILTON
Blue Stilton is a blue cheese that has a rich, tangy flavor and a crumbly texture that simply melts in your mouth. This unique cheese is made only within a small region of central England.

LONG CLAWSON BLUE STILTON
This award winning Stilton blue cheese has a lovely crumbly yet creamy texture. Evenly veined, and with a well-balanced flavor, it is unsurpassed in quality. It is also beautifully presented in a ceramic jar.

BLUE SHROPSHIRE
This delightful blue cheese has an exquisite nutty flavor, with spicy notes. The taste and creamy texture are matched by it’s beautiful appearance, as blue veining radiates through the striking orange body (due to the annatto added to deepen its hue).

IL TRUFFELINO
This fragrant English cheddar is heavily infused with truffle and porcini mushrooms. With its wonderful creamy texture and subtle flavor, it can only be described as simply heavenly.
