easy french toast

Did you know that French toast isn’t really French? Also known as eggy bread, this dish was believed to have been invented by an innkeeper named Joseph French. But because he forgot the apostrophe, he advertised it as “French toast”, thus the name of this combo of egg and bread.

Easy French Toast

2 Large fresh eggs

¼ cup Whole milk

  • Dash of ground cinnamon

4 slices Bread

  • Butter and vegetable oil, for frying
  • Confectioners’ sugar, for topping

  1. Beat together the eggs and milk lightly. Add the cinnamon and set aside.
  2. In a nonstick pan over medium high heat, melt a tablespoon of butter with a tablespoon of vegetable oil. Once hot, dip each slice of bread in the egg and milk mixture, making sure to soak both sides. Gently place in the pan and fry both sides until golden brown. Repeat until all slices are done.
  3. Sprinkle powdered sugar over the toasts and serve with honey, fresh fruits, or jams.
