Rich and savory pudding for an early morning meal? This recipe combines all our favorite breakfast items like bread, bacon, cheese, eggs, and milk, into one glorious breakfast treat. You can even make it into a sweet breakfast option by substituting bacon into chocolate bits or even into a healthier one by mixing in blanched spinach or mushrooms.


Croissant and Bacon Pudding

Makes 6-8 servings


Butter, for greasing

3 Whole eggs

3 Egg yolks

1 ½ cups Heavy cream

1 cup Milk

6-8 Mini butter croissants, sliced in half horizontally

1 cup Cooked bacon, roughly chopped

½ cup Grated mozzarella cheese

¾ cup Grated cheddar cheese

Salt and ground black pepper, to season

1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease the bottom and sides of a baking dish with butter.

2. In a bowl, whisk whole eggs, egg yolks, heavy cream, and milk. Set aside.

3. Place the bottom part of the croissants on the baking dish, forming a first layer.

4. Sprinkle croissant halves with chopped bacon, mozzarella cheese, and cheddar cheese. Season with salt and pepper.

5. Make a second layer with the top portion of the croissant halves.

6. Pour the egg mixture over the croissants and allow the bread to absorb the custard for a few minutes before baking.

7. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil, sealing the edges. Poke small holes on the foil with a knife to allow the steam to escape. Place the baking dish in a larger pan filled with hot water. Bake for 45 minutes until the custard sets.
