What do you do when you hear that one of the most famous hot dog brands in the world is town?

Drop everything and have yourself a taste, of course! That’s exactly what we did when we learned that Nathan’s, New York’s most popular hot dog is in Manila. The Philippine franchise is currently managed by siblings Mark and Cesca de Leon, who are driven by their love for all kinds of great tasting hot dogs and sausages (it being their family’s main business).

But why is Nathan’s Famous, well, famous? Apart from its Big Apple reputation of being the go-to hot dog snack, the wieners are reputably made with 100% beef. All hot dogs served from their store are imported from the US, guaranteeing loyalists and hard core hot dogs enthusiasts that they are eating an authentic Nathan’s original. So, whether you’re ordering the Sauerkraut Dog, Chili Cheese Dog, or Jalapeño Cheese Dog, you’re guaranteed the real deal.

To complete the experience, Nathan’s Famous Philippines also has its other signature offerings such as Char-grilled Cheeseburgers, Crinkle-cut Fries, and even the Old-Fashioned Lemonade to pair with the good stuff.

Nathan’s has surely come a long way from its humble beginnings more than a hundred years ago, as a 5-cent hot dog shop in New York City. That’s why it’s incredibly cool and retro to have the NY Classic in our metro.

We were fortunate enough to try their customized food truck that was then parked in Eastwood City, Libis. It has since moved to another location, but we we’re excited to learn that the famous frankfurters will soon take root in their own store, which will be located at Vertis North, Ayala’s newest lifestyle playground along North Edsa.

But, if you prefer to eat Nathan’s like a certified New Yorker, follow Nathan’s Famous Philippines with their Instagram and Facebook accounts and catch where their next food truck stop will be.
