Apple and Pear Crumble with Warm Rum Butter Sauce
Makes 8 servings

4 pcs Green apples, peeled, cored, and cut into 1/4” slices

4 pcs Pear, peeled, cored and cut into 1/4” slices

3 Tbsps Lemon juice

½ cup Sugar

¼ tsp Nutmeg

2 tsps Cinnamon

⅔ cup All-purpose flour

¾ cup Brown sugar

¼ tsp Salt

½ cup Rolled oats

5 Tbsps Unsalted butter

⅓ cup Heavy cream

1 cup White sugar

½ cup Unsalted butter

2 Tbsps Dark rum

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Combine sliced apples, pear, lemon juice, sugar, nutmeg, and cinnamon in a sauce pot over medium heat. Cook for about 10 minutes or until apple is tender, stirring occasionally.
  3. Spoon mixture into an oven-proof glass or ceramic baking dish.
  4. To make crumble, combine flour, brown sugar, salt, and oats in a bowl. Using fingertips, rub butter into oat mixture until mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Sprinkle over fruit mixture.
  5. Bake for 10 minutes or until the top is crisp and brown and the juice is bubbling up around the edges.
  6. For the sauce, melt heavy cream, sugar and butter in a sauce pot over low heat. Do not boil or the sugar will crystalize. When sugar is dissolved, add rum. Serve with the Apple and Pear Crumble.
