Lola’s Beef Kalitiran will surely make your heart melt with delight and your tummy full of something delicious. Made out of the cow’s oyster blade a.k.a. kalitiran that’s been tenderized to perfection, you might be indulged to include this beefy bad boy on your weekly menu. The best part about this recipe is how easily you can make this dish from regular pantry essentials like all-purpose cream, quick melt cheese and whole mushrooms To make it more hearty add in the fried potato wedges on top of your creamy beef masterpiece.

 

LOLA’S BEEF KALITIRAN
Makes 6-8 servings

1 kilo Beef kalitiran, cubed
3 cups Water
3 Tbsps Butter
3 Tbsps Olive oil, divided
3 cloves Garlic, minced
1 White onion, diced
2 Potatoes, scrubbed clean then cut into wedges
1 cup Whole Mushrooms
1 cup All-purpose cream
½ cup Grated quick-melting cheese
1 Beef broth cube
Liquid seasoning, to season
Ground white pepper, to season

  1. Simmer beef kalitiran with water until tender using a pressure cooker (for 30 minutes) or a covered pot (for 2-3 hours). Drain meat, reserve a cup of the beef stock, and set both aside.
  2. In a deep saucepan over medium heat, melt butter with two tablespoons of olive oil. Fry potato wedges until crisp and golden brown. Set aside and keep warm.
  3. In the same pan, fry the garlic until fragrant. Add the onion and cook until translucent. Toss in the softened kalitiran and brown on all sides.
  4. Add the mushrooms and reserved beef stock. Mix in the all-purpose cream, grated cheese, and beef broth cube. Simmer until sauce thickens, about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Season with liquid seasoning and ground white pepper, as needed. Add about a tablespoon of olive oil just before turning off the heat. Transfer to a serving platter and arrange fried potatoes on top. Serve hot.
