burger steak and egg with gravy

You’ve probably already seen this dish in the country’s top fast food restaurant. But today, we’re giving you an alternative that will surely meet your standards. Topped with gravy to give it some flavor, the burger steak and egg have formed a good combination that can keep up with a similar dish that restaurants can offer.

Makes 4-6 servings

½ kilo Lean ground beef
½ cup Finely chopped white onion
½ cup Fine breadcrumbs
2 Tbsps Tomato ketchup
¼ tsp Dried oregano
¼ tsp Dried thyme
1 Egg, beaten
Salt and pepper, to season

  1. Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl. Mix well and shape into burger patties (4 portions for larger patties or 6 portions for smaller patties).
  2. Pan-grill the burger on a heated pan, flipping only once, and cook each side for about 2-3 minutes or until cooked but not well done. Transfer to a plate and cover with foil and set aside while preparing sauce and fried egg.

1 packet Store-bought beef gravy, or beef and herb gravy sauce, prepared according to package instructions
½ cup Thinly sliced white onions
Enough oil for cooking onions
1 ½ tsps Freshly cracked black peppercorns
Sauté onions in oil until slightly golden in color then stir in prepared gravy sauce. Season to taste with cracked black peppercorns.

4 Eggs, cooked sunny-side up

Place burger patty on a plate and pour gravy. Then top with sunny side up egg per patty. Sprinkle on top with chopped fresh parsley and a sprinkle of paprika powder. Serve with Potato Waldorf Salad.
