Hit the Ale: Strawberry Ginger Ale Recipe

Did you know that the first ever soda pop made in the US was Vernor’s Ginger Ale? From then on, the ginger-flavored soda water has made rounds around the world, its taste often enhanced with various flavors. Now, here’s a must-try treat for all ginger ale lovers out there, featuring a strawberry taste that is surely right up your alley.

 

Strawberry Ginger Ale
Makes 8-10 glasses

 

2 cups White sugar

½ cup Ginger, sliced into fine matchsticks

  • Juice from ½ lemon

1 cup Water

Fresh strawberries, stemmed and quartered

  • Ice

10 cups Soda water

 

  1. Put sugar, ginger, lemon juice, and water into a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring gently until sugar dissolves. Simmer for ten minutes then turn off heat. Let ginger steep for 30 minutes to an hour.
  2. Remove ginger and add strawberries. Return to gentle heat just until strawberries soften, about ten minutes. Let cool and blitz in a blender or food processor.
  3. To serve, fill glasses with ice and pour about ⅓ part of the strawberry-ginger syrup to ⅔ part soda water.
