This healthier version of brownies will satisfy every chocolate craving

 

REDUCED FAT BROWNIES

Makes 16 squares

 

¾ cup Premium baking margarine or butter compound

1 ½ cups Muscovado sugar

1 tsp Coffee powder

1 tsp Vanilla extract

¾ cup Sifted all-purpose flour

½ cup Sifted cocoa powder

½ cup Sifted baking powder

½ tsp Fine salt

6 Egg whites

Unsweeted cocoa powder, for dusting

 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line an 8-inch square baking pan with aluminum foil. Set aside.
  2. Melt margarine in a saucepan over low heat. Transfer to a mixing bowl. Add sugar, coffee, and vanilla extract. Mix well with a wire whip. Then add flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Beat until blended and set aside.
  3. Using an electric mixer, beat egg whites until it holds a definite shape. Add the cocoa mixture and beat at low speed until blended.
  4. Pour brownie batter to the prepared baking pan. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until edges begin to pull away from the sides of the pan.
  5. Allow to cool and slice into 16 portions. If desired, dust with natural unsweetened cocoa powder before serving for a pronounced chocolate flavor.
