Also known as coriander, cilantro is a herb that is packing with health benefits. Once combined with the likes of coconut, this heavy metal cleanser can boost the flavor of the dish. Check out these spiced wings with coconut-cilantro pesto to taste the magic brought on by cilantro.

Spiced Wings with Coconut-Cilantro Pesto
Makes 8 servings


3 Tbsps Olive oil

1 tsp Ground cumin

1 Tbsp Chopped cilantro roots

1 Tbsp Brown sugar

½ tsp Salt

¼ tsp Ground black pepper

1 kilo Chicken wings


  1. Combine the olive oil, cumin, chopped cilantro roots, brown sugar, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl and stir. Toss in the chicken wings then mix to coat evenly. Cover bowl with plastic cling wrap then leave wings to marinate in the refrigerator for at least an hour.
  2. Cook the wings over a hot charcoal grill until cooked, about eight minutes per side.



1 cup Cilantro (wansuy leaves), chopped

2 cloves Garlic, chopped

1 Green finger chili (siling mahaba), deseeded and chopped

3 Tbsps Chopped pistachio nuts (or cashew nuts)

¼ cup Coconut cream

2 Tbsps Lime juice

½ tsp Salt

  • Pinch of granulated sugar


In a blender, combine cilantro, garlic, green finger chili, and nuts. Add coconut cream and lime juice. Season with salt and sugar. Purée until smooth. Pour into a microwaveable bowl and heat for a minute. Spoon coconut-cilantro pesto over just grilled chicken wings.
