Buko pandan is a staple dessert on our tables during birthdays and fiestas. There’s no doubt that Filipinos love that cup of green and creamy goodness. But with sago and pinipig, this local dessert will become even tastier and more adored by your guests.

 

Buko Pandan with Sago and Pinipig

Makes 6-8 servings

 

1 box Gulaman, buko pandan flavor

2 Pandan leaves

2 cups Young coconut or buko, diced

1 cup Cooked small tapioca pearls or sago

½ cup Cream

½ cup Condensed milk (or more, to taste)

  • Toasted or fried pinipig

 

  1. Prepare pandan water by boiling 1 ¼ cups (300ml) water and 2 pandan leaves for about 5 minutes. Turn off heat.
  2. Dissolve contents of buko pandan gulaman into the pandan water.
  3. Pour buko pandan gulaman into a pan to cool. Refrigerate to set then cut gelatin into cubes.
  4. Wash cooked tapioca pearls or sago. Strain and set aside.
  5. In a bowl, combine the heavy cream and condensed milk. Add buko, sago, and gelatin cubes. Chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Sprinkle with toasted pinipig just before serving.
