Fine and Fruity Homemade Pineapple Basil Jam

This fruity, freshly-made jam is best served with buttered toast, even waffles or pancakes!

Homemade Pineapple Basil Jam

Makes 1 ½ cups

1 Large or 2 small fresh pineapples, peeled, cored, and cut into small cubes

1 cup Pineapple juice

½ cup Brown sugar

1 ¼ cups White sugar

3 Tbsps Calamansi juice

3 Tbsps Minced basil leaves

  1. Put pineapple cubes in a saucepan then add pineapple juice.  Boil in low to medium heat until pineapple is tender, about 45 minutes.
  2. Add brown sugar, white sugar, and calamansi juice then stir. Boil for another 15 minutes more, stirring occasionally.
  3. Transfer mixture to a blender or food processor. Add basil leaves. Pulse until a little chunky (still with bits of pineapple) or until smooth, depending on preference.
  4. Return pineapple mixture to saucepan and allow to simmer for about 45 minutes more or until mixture has thickened to a jam-like consistency.
  5. Carefully pour hot jam into sterilized jars and let cool completely before storing in the refrigerator.  Serve with buttered toast, pancakes or waffles.
