Earn Your Wings: Buffalo Barbecue Chicken Wings Recipe

No one said that you can only enjoy buffalo wings while watching a sports game. No matter what the occasion is, buffalo wings can be your go-to food when you’re not afraid to get your hands dirty. Drenched in barbecue sauce, these wings are sure to give your mouth a fired up experience!

Makes 6-8 servings
1.5 kilos Chicken wings, cut at the wing joint
Cooking oil, for deep-frying
Cornstarch, for dredging chicken wings
1 tsp Paprika powder
2 tsps Garlic powder
2 tsps Onion powder
Pinch of salt and ground pepper, to season
4 Tbsps Oil
½ cup Chopped white onion
1 Tbsp Minced garlic
½ cup Tomato ketchup
4 Tbsps Prepared yellow mustard
4 Tbsps Vinegar
4 Tbsps Worcestershire sauce
½ tsp Chili powder
Juice of 1/2 lemon
½ cup Store-bought steak sauce or barbecue sauce
2 Tbsps Molasses
2 Tbsps Honey
¼ cup Brown sugar
A few drops of liquid seasoning, to taste
Salt and pepper, to taste
Hot sauce, to taste

  1. Mix all dry rub ingredients in a bowl then add the chicken wings. Rub the mixture well into the chicken wing pieces. Cover with cling film. Marinate overnight in the refrigerator.
  2. Prepare barbecue sauce: sauté onions and garlic in oil. Add all remaining ingredients (until the hot sauce) and simmer for a few minutes until well combined and thick. Season to taste. Purée in a blender until sauce is smooth (optional). Set aside.
  3. Dredge marinated chicken wings in cornstarch and deep fry until golden and cooked. Just before serving, transfer fried chicken wings in a big bowl, add in the warm barbecue sauce and gently toss chicken wings in barbecue sauce until well-coated. Transfer to a serving dish.

Note: Reheat BBQ sauce before tossing in with fried chicken wings.
