Date Night: Moules Marinières
Serves: 2-4
Want to impress your date? This classic French mussels recipe is high impact with minimal effort. Serve with a glass of white and a crusty loaf. You can also pair this with chunky fries and homemade aioli.
  • 2 tbsps butter
  • ½ cup shallots
  • 1 kilo fresh mussels, washed
  • 1 cup white wine
  • ½ cup water -,
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsps fresh parsley, chopped
  1. Heat cooking oil over low heat and sauté shallots until tender.
  2. Toss in fresh mussels and bring up the heat. Cover and steam for two minutes, until shells open.
  3. Pour in white wine and water. Do not stir. Bring to a boil again and simmer for another minute.
  4. Season with salt. Just before serving, add fresh parsley.
