fizzy watermelon agua fresca

All over Mexico, a non-alcoholic beverage makes its rounds on the streets. Literally translating to “cool waters,” the agua fresca is a fruity drink more beneficial than soft drinks, which have way too much sugar for our health. It doesn’t even matter that we’re out of the summer season; this refreshing drink can quench your thirst any time of the year.

Fizzy Watermelon Agua Fresca
Makes 4-6 servings

1 kilo Ripe watermelon, seeded and diced

2 tsps Lemon juice

4 sprigs Fresh mint leaves, plus more for garnish

1 cup Soda water

¼ cup Sugar

  1. In a blender, combine the watermelon and lemon juice until smooth. Transfer the mixture into a pitcher.
  2. Infuse the mixture with fresh mint leaves and chill in the refrigerator for at least two hours.
  3. Before serving, add the soda water and sugar then stir to combine. Pour Agua Fresca into glasses with ice. Garnish with fresh mint leaves.
