Grilled chocolate, for a change!

Makes 2 servings


2 Large eggs

2 Tbsps Milk

2 Tbsps Cream

4 slices Italian bread or challah

8oz Dark chocolate bar, chopped into pieces

3 Tbsps Butter

Sea salt, to season

Confectioners’ sugar, for dusting

Chili powder (optional)


  1. In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, and cream. Set aside.
  2. Spread chocolate pieces on one side of the bread. Sprinkle with sea salt. Top with another slice of bread to form a sandwich. Repeat to make two sandwiches. Holding the sandwich with both hands, dip each side in the egg mixture to coat evenly.
  3. Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Pan fry the sandwiches in butter, one at a time. Flip to cook the other side, pressing down with a spatula. Cook until golden brown on both sides. Cut in half using a bread knife then sprinkle with powdered sugar. Dust lightly with chili powder for an added kick. Serve immediately.
