layered cherry panna cotta

Say ciao to this Italian classic. A traditional food of a northern Italian region, panna cotta is a creamy delight perfect for any occasion. Sweetness meets sophistication in this cup of cherry-filled dessert.

Layered Cherry Panna Cotta

Makes 4-5 servings

2 Tbsps Unflavored gelatin (not gulaman)

3 Tbsps Water

2 cups Cream

¼ cup Sugar

½ tsp Vanilla extract

1 pack Cherry flavored Jell-O (substitute with strawberry or raspberry flavor)

½ cup Canned cherry or strawberry pie filling

  1. Combine the gelatin and water in a bowl to soften. Place the cream and sugar in a saucepan and heat until it just begins to boil.
  2. Remove from the heat and add the gelatin, stirring until gelatin is completely dissolved. If there are pieces that remain, place the saucepan over low heat but DO NOT allow it to boil. Add the vanilla extract.
  3. Prepare Jell-O according to package instructions, decreasing water by ½ cup. Add the fruit pie filling.
  4. Pour the cream mixture into serving dishes and put in the refrigerator to set. When set, pour a layer of cherry Jell-O and put back in the refrigerator to set. Serve chilled.
