Tomato and Mozzarella Salad

This dish is also known to others as “Caprese salad”. It’s one of the most basic and common Italian dishes. For added flavor, one can season the salad with pesto sauce instead of using the basil dressing below.




Makes 4 servings


8 pcs Tomatoes

200g Mozzarella cheese

1 small Red onion, minced

10 pcs Black olives, sliced


Basil Dressing:

1/4 cup White wine vinegar

1/4 cup White sugar

1/3 cup Canola oil

6 leaves Fresh basil, chopped


  1. Slice the tomatoes and mozzarella in equal size. Arrange nicely on a plate and sprinkle with minced red onions and sliced black olives.
  2. For the dressing: Using a wire whisk, blend all ingredients until sugar dissolves completely.
  3. Keep dressing and plated salad in the refrigerator. Pour dressing over salad just before serving.
