cheesy baked mussels

Cheese on cheese on cheese

Makes 6-8 servings


1 kilo Mussels (tahong)

¼ cup Butter

½ cup Cream cheese

1 Medium onion, finely chopped

7 cloves Garlic, minced

Pinch of Spanish paprika

Mozzarella cheese

Parmesan cheese

Salt and pepper, to taste

Hot sauce, optional


  1. Rinse and clean mussels. Steam or boil mussels in simmering water until shells open. Discard unopened mussels. Remove top shell of the mussels and arrange bottom half on baking sheet. Set aside.
  2. In a bowl, beat butter and cream cheese. Add onions and garlic. Season with paprika, salt and pepper. Set aside.
  3. Preheat oven to 400°F. Scoop some of the butter and cream cheese mixture over the mussels. Top with Parmesan then mozzarella. Bake until cheese melts. Serve hot.
