Back to Basics: Coffee Jelly with Cream

coffee jelly

Sometimes, even the simplest of recipes are the most comforting and most rewarding to make. Like this unassuming dessert made of coffee, gelatin, and cream that doesn’t need any baking needed. All you have to do is brew, mold, mix, and wait for it to settle. Load it with cream or you can even drizzle in some more decadence treat like caramel or butterscotch sauce.

Makes 5-6 servings

1 pack Unflavored white or colorless gelatin

1 cup Brewed coffee or to taste

  • Sugar, to taste

5 Tbsps Condensed milk

¼ cup Heavy cream

1 tsp Vanilla extract

  1. Prepare gelatin according to package instructions, replacing water with cold brewed coffee. Add sugar to sweeten. If you want a firmer texture, reduce the amount of coffee.
  2. Pour into a tray or baking dish and allow to set in the refrigerator. When set, slice into cubes.
  3. In a bowl, combine condensed milk, heavy cream, and vanilla extract. To assemble, alternate layers of cream and coffee jelly cubes. Chill before serving.
