A Little Bit of Bread and Cheese: Mozzarella Sticks with Marinara Dip Recipe

Breaded, deep-fried, and cheesy—this simple food deserves never-ending hype. Whether you’re a cheese addict or a pizza lover, these mozzarella sticks will certainly hook you up. Plus, once you dunk ‘em in your marinara dip, various flavors will burst in your mouth!

 

Mozzarella Sticks with Marinara Dip
Makes 6-8 servings

 

2 square packs Mozzarella cheese

16 sheets Lumpia wrapper

2 Eggs

2 Tbsps Milk

1 cup Japanese breadcrumbs

  • Cooking oil for frying

 

FOR THE MARINARA DIP

¼ cup Extra virgin olive oil

4-5 cloves Garlic, minced

1 Large onion, chopped

⅛ tsp Dried basil

⅛ tsp Dried oregano

1 pc Chicken cube

1 (400g) can Diced tomatoes

  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 4-5 basil leaves

 

  1. Cut up mozzarella block into sticks, about 1 cm thick. Wrap cheese logs in lumpia wrapper, sealing edges with water.
  2. Dip cheese lumpia in flour, egg wash, then Japanese breadcrumbs. Keep chilled in the refrigerator until ready to fry.
  3. Meanwhile, prepare marinara dip. In a medium saucepot, heat olive oil. Sauté garlic and onions until fragrant
  4. Stir in dried basil and dried oregano. Crush chicken cube until dissolved. Pour in diced tomatoes. Simmer for 15-20 minutes. Season with freshly ground black pepper. With kitchen scissors, snip fresh basil leaves into the sauce then remove from heat.
  5. Fry mozzarella sticks in hot oil until golden. Serve with marinara dip.
